Matt Rektorski experienced a really scary moment in life. He was living a very healthy lifestyle when all of the sudden he started to get headaches on a regular basis amongst other symptoms. He was going to several doctors and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. They put him on steroids early on and he stayed on them for many months. This caused him to eventually start to hallucinate and he was hospitalized for it.

When Matt originally told this story to me, I could hear the pain in his voice when he recalled this time in his life. It was a really hard time for him and his family. The doctors were able to finally diagnose him but the affects of it changed him forever.

He tells his story about how at first, the hallucinations were just seen as a symptom of this larger problem. But it opened him up in a new way. His health has recovered but he now trusts all the signs that come to him. He paints from the premonitions he gets. And his paintings always make their way to exactly the right people.

Matt’s story is incredible because it certainly gives pause to the notion of what we see as a society as “normal” way to process information. He fully trusts in the downloads he gets and it has transformed his life. You can see it in the paintings he does. They seem like they are alive! Matt is a brilliant painter but also a beautiful soul who taught me to look at every sign as an important clue in life.
